There are a total of 47 discovery cards that can only be obtained by fishing. You need to learn the fishing skill, which ranks very easily while doing normal activities such as normal adventuring.

Discoveries from fishing are all Marine Life type discoveries. The fishing skill can be used while sailing and also in towns while facing towards water. I recommend just fishing until you reach rank 15 in Fishing before you try to get every discovery card. Even with rank 15 some fish are very difficult to catch, so don’t worry if it takes some time and bring some vigour food with you.
