Tech Guide

Techs are useful for battle lvling (deck battle) or dungeon running or pvp (deck) or duels

There are 5 types of techs :

1-Adventure (Trap)

2-Trade

3-Battle

4-Original

5-Master (Those are battle techs as well but have different way and are organised under separate tab in techs dialog)

No. of techs :

1-Adventure (there are 30+)

2-Trade (there are “known” 11 techs , could not find any info about where to get the 12th one if it even exists)

3-Battle (there are 94)

4-Original tech is a tech that you make the way you want , but can have only one original tech but there’s about 50 Billion possible original techs (can not use master techs in making original tech that leaves you ~35+11+94 techs and you can use tech once in original tech combination and there are 5 slots to fill (note that from 2nd till 5th slot any of them can be blank provided that the preceding slot is not blank but lets ignore this to simply calculations , its an estimation anyway) so possible original techs are ~140*139*138*137*136 (140 is approximate total number of techs 35+11+94) ~ 50 Billion techs!)

5-Master techs (there are 7 , one for each weapon category)

How to obtain techs :

all R1 battle techs (except trick techs) have no requirement except holding a weapon with weapon category that matches the tech you are after

R1 Trade techs require R1 Merchandise Knowledge

R1 Adventure techs require R1 trap and some of them require other adventure skills as well

for 1,2,3 :

-to get R1,R2 techs either target specific NPCs or just any NPC can do with less chance though or fight NPCs at Coliseum

-for R3 and R4 its better to target specific NPCs , Coliseum could help but still low chance

for 4 : just use techs you already have (going to explain that in more details soon)

for 5 : you need to get a special quest from certain NPC at EA and kill a certain NPC 50 times and also you have to have required skill ranks (base or with boosts both work) and have “all” battle techs for the weapon you learning master tech for plus enough finesse for master tech

Finesse Training :

for Red -> Cairo outskirts

for other colors Coliseum or Portobelo outskirts , can Intoxicating wine and Drunkard’s Wine on NPC at cairo as well , but he would not heal much so chain will be shorter

you get finesse points according to this equation N*(N+3)/2 where N is the number of techs your chain had before you kill NPC , you get points corresponding to the last tech your character used , for ex in fleet of 2 the one who did the 12th tech gets 12*(12+3)/2=90 points , the one who did the 13th gets 100 (finesse is capped at 100 per battle per weapon per color)

1-form a fleet (2 or 3)

2-agree on which color you gonna use (Red , Blue or Yellow)

3-equip highest def , lowest attack equipment

4-make sure no land battle oxfords are active on all parties

5-discard original tech (unless you going to use it for finesse training -> lowest attack , same color)

6-get Soma,Secret medication,Asclepius’ elixir and Assorted medications (that one for fleet) (or whatever you like , but i find those the best and easy to get)

7-agree on turns everyone should only use tech at specific time (for a fleet of 2 one member does the odd techs ,the other does the even techs of the chain)

8-never paralyze NPC (so he can heal) , never hit him with normal hits only techs

9-wait till you have 5 ready techs (yes five not three , you see 3 ready but you have 2 more hidden , just wait enough time for 4 techs (assuming you have only one R1 battle tech active then first tech will spawn instantly , so you need to wait for only 4 techs )

10-wait for damage from tech to fly high before you hit your tech (that’s enough duration to not break the chain and to allow for long chain , if you use techs too fast you won’t get ready tech at suitable moment to add it to chain)

11-after every member hits 13th chain or higher (i mean when he hits tech the number of chains is 13 or higher) then kill NPC by every possible way tech and weapon

12-keep doing steps from 7 to 11 over and over till you get finesse lvl you need

Calculating spawn time of techs :

1-initially a tech takes 20 seconds to spawn , if only one tech is active

2-every 5 active battle techs reduce that time by 1 second

3-every 10 active adventure or trade techs reduce that time by 1 second

4-minimum time is 5 seconds , can not go beyond this (capped)

Weapon Swapping :

1-need good timing to do this , activate R1 tech on a weapon , activate all techs but with same color as first weapon on an other weapon and equip that weapon as weapon B

2-after you get 13th chain swap weapon fast and wait till other parties use their own techs (very hard to achieve with fleet of 2 and need NPC to stay alive for all those chains !) then hopefully you could get any tech on the secondary weapon at the right moment then you can complete the chain and get 100 finesse points on 2 weapons during 1 battle.

Techniques to obtain a tech :

Adventure and Trade :

just do low damage to NPC and use techs randomly till he uses the tech you want.

While trying to learn trade tech , you won’t get name of trade tech NPC uses, so you will have to notice its animation

Battle :

(Red Counters Blue , Blue Counters Yellow , Yellow Counters Red)

let’s assume something (as we can not get source code of uwo game!) that every hostile NPC wants to kill your character in the most efficient possible way

so what you think an NPC will do when you use some battle tech ? he should counter it if he has a tech that counters it , hence when you go to hunt battle techs get the highest defence you can get and lowest attack (equip Bambo Broom to learn sword techs for ex) and do not use land battle oxford skills (you need NPC alive till he uses the tech you targeting) then activate only a R1 tech that could be countered by the tech you targeting and use the tech on him then wait till he heals , you could discard techs while NPC heals to get Tech gauge higher (it seems like your tech gauge is somehow connected to NPC as well , at higher tech gauge NPC uses higher rank techs) do not forget to heal yourself as well , counter does alot higher damage than usual tech !

once NPC uses the tech you want , Finish him ! (an other opinion is to wait few seconds after NPC uses tech , but did not seem to be different to me)

keep doing this till you learn the tech (it could take hours or even couple days , be patient!)

Some techs can be learned only from “rare” NPC , i recommend using “Finesse Acquisition Instructions” to get those , cause the chance is very low without it (gotta kill tens of NPCs to spawn the rare npc then you need to fight the rare npc as explained to get him use the tech , then kill him many times till you learn it , FAI just gets you the tech after first time that Rare NPC uses the tech (provided that you have all requirements for it))

Master techs : no techniques , just kill the NPC related to quest as fast as possible (highest attack you can get)
